Ranking of Kings
Ranking of Kings Season 1 ended with one of the biggest fan responses ever, and now the anime is gearing up to return for a new anime special ahead of a possible second season! After its launch last year, the anime adaptation of the original manga series by author Susuke Toka concluded its run in such an impressive way that fans were eagerly hoping to see it return for a new season. Unfortunately, there hasn't been any word yet on whether or not this will happen, but the anime is preparing for a new comeback special that fans didn't expect to see!
Ranking of Kings anime is back next year
While it seems far from the second season that fans were likely hoping to see, it has been announced that Ousama Ranking will return with a new special next year. Slated to release sometime in 2023, this new special titled Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage will feature a returning cast and cast from the first season of the series. Details for the international release of Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage are still unavailable at this writing, unfortunately, but it will feature a WIT Studio production as in Season 1. The Special Edition is also being promoted as just a new entry rather than as a complete entry for Season 2, but it will tell an original story not seen in that first season. There is still hope that the series will get a full continuation after that, but it's too early to tell now. They describe Ranking of Kings thus, “How prosperous your nation is, how many strong warriors you are proud of, how heroic and mighty their king is. These are the criteria that go into the system known as the classification of kings. The main character, Buji, is born as the first prince of a kingdom ruled by King Bosu, who is ranked seventh. But Booji Weld is unable to hear and is so weak that he cannot even swing a sword. As a result, his servants, and the public, view him as completely unfit to be king. It is then that Boji finds his first friend Kage and Boji's life takes a dramatic turn...".
