Top 10 Anime Openings for Winter 2022

The only thing that wasn't lacking in the Winter 2022 season was the amazing opening notes. While there are many amazing opening songs for this season, this list will focus more on the opening sequences as a whole. Animations, cuts, replayability, and more, including music, all come into play for the viewer, which is why this list has taken into account the full opening sequences. From the lesser-known anime to the most popular of the season, these anime opening series from Winter 2022 will be the ones fans will be rewatching throughout the rest of the year.
10. Life with an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated into a Total Fantasy Knockout

To start the roster is the opening Life with an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated into a Total Fantasy Knockout. Once the opening starts, the music will grab you instantly and waste no time keeping you interested. The humor is amusing and even more hilarious when you realize that Hinata, the main female protagonist, is actually a thirty-year-old man who is transported to another world. Kirito's sign is still funny no matter how many times you watch the opening and the music fits in with the pictures and the whole ambiance of the show perfectly. The opening itself isn't overwhelming in any department, but it's certainly powerful all around.
9. Girls' Frontline

Next is the opening of Girls' Frontline. As an anime adaptation of the mobile game, Girls' Frontline is one of the lesser known to air this season. While the series itself didn't break into the top ten in our weekly polls, this Kintaro Waki-directed opening is undoubtedly one of the season's best shows. Help create the beautiful openings of Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of the Underworld as Director of Photography. Now, Wacky is making his directorial and operating debut in the storyboard with Girls' Frontline. Thanks to the best transfers from this entire list and great artwork, this is more than worth making the list. The song doesn't have as big a chorus as the rest on this list, but the artwork and transitions alone help land Girls' Frontline in the top 10 anime opening series of the Winter 2022 season.
8. Arifureta Season 2

Anime fans recognize the fact that MindaRyn doesn't know how to make a bad opening or closing theme. Last year, she introduced the song "Like Flames" to Reincarnated As A Slime Season 2 and the ending theme, "Shine," by SAKUGAN. Now she is back to perform another great song with "Daylight". If this list was based on songs alone, this would probably be the first. It's this amazing opening sequence that can make people become fans of Arifureta, myself included. Although showing the string name correctly when starting the chorus is an interesting choice. But the powerful visuals and action scenes culminated in a healthy ending that perfectly matches the lyrics, making this opening an easy top 10 pick.
7. My Dress-Up Darling

I'm more than willing to bet that many of you have come to this article to find My Dress-Up Darling. Well, there he is! One of two CloverWorks animations from this season on this list, My Dress-Up Darling offers a catchy, wholesome introduction that's impossible to hate. Comedy, slice-of-life, and romance animation are usually hard to match up to other genres in terms of openings. But every once in a while, we get fun things just like this. Spira Spica captured the sentiment between Gojo and Marin with "Sansan Days" and now the opening recently crossed two million views. The official music video is also close to reaching 500,000 views. The series is not only one of the best series of the season, but also the introduction. Beautiful visuals, great colors and a perfect theme really put the opening of My Dress-Up Darling in the top ten.
6. Tokyo 24th Ward

Survive Said Prophet became well known after performing the first Vinland Saga introductory theme. Here they are, once again, performing a great opening theme but this time on Tokyo 24th Ward —another powerful CloverWorks series currently airing this season. The use of HUD elements initially attracts you immediately with visuals similar to those in the opening of Night Head 2041 and it fits the theme of the series perfectly. Tokyo 24th Ward may not be the most popular this season, but it deserves some credit - and the same goes for this opening. The chorus grows on you the more you listen to it and the transitions between the characters at the end are beautifully done.
5. Platinum End

Opening to the top 100 anime of the 2021 list, Band-Maid's "Sense" is still going strong. The new version of OP includes updated images from the latter half of the series, most notably the red arrow from the first version which is the white arrow in this version. Some of the shots are exact copies of old shots except for different characters but that doesn't matter. The song is amazing. The visuals are solid. And it's just a great all-around opening no matter what anyone thinks of Platinum End as a series.
4. Sabikui Bisco

One of the best new anime coming out in Winter 2022, Sabikui Bisco offers more than just the action-packed thriller of a series - it gave us one of the best openings too. JUNNA returns this year after performing the beautiful opening theme of Fena: Pirate Princess in fall 2021. But this time she brought us a hard rock track. The all-encompassing mystical nature and sinister post-apocalyptic theme capture the essence of the series making this Sabikui Bisco opening more than deserving of the top five spot. Environmental artwork can also be compared to
Unique in the opening act of Leaders Idaten, which was broadcast in the summer of 2021.

3. Demon Slayer

If you haven't heard of Aimer before, well, you do now. Just as she did with the opening of Fire Force “SPARK AGAIN,” Aimer gave an excellent performance at Entertainment District Arc with “Zankyou Sanka.” In the words of Tengen, this OP is really "flashy". Just as they did with the first Demon Slayer opening, Haruo Sotozaki and Akira Matsushima pulled out all the stops to give fans an amazing opening with great animation, composition, and cinematography. Replay for this opening is off the charts. And what it beats — arguably more than anything else on this list — is that it gets you excited for the upcoming episode. Aimer's official music video for the song was released back in December 2021 and is nearing 60 million views on YouTube.
2. Attack on Titan

What more can be said than what hasn't already been said? The new opening of Attack on Titan anime plays on all records and never misses a beat and it's all thanks to director Takashi Kojima and Sim. This OP captures all that happened, what is happening, and what could happen in relation to the story. The way the pictures and the song play each other is something to watch. I know many have thrown heavy metal at them, but he fits Attack on Titan perfectly and will undoubtedly remain one of the best openers of the year. The official music video for the chart-topping song was also released on March 2. For more details on how the last attack on titans.
1. Ranking of Kings

As awesome as the Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan slots are, I don't see either of them living up to the new Ranking of Kings opening. The word "masterpiece" can be thrown around a lot these days, but this opening actually fits the bill. Each frame in this opening is a true work of art. Text and symbolism. Configuration...everything is fine. Vaundy gives us an epic and emotional theme that leaves many fans shed a tear or two. Naked Hero ranked 3rd in the Top Anime openers/endings in Winter 2022 on Spotify and has currently surpassed 8 million streams. Be on the lookout, because this could end up being the best opening of 2022 overall. Director Shingo Yamashita (Jujutsu Kaisen OP 1 & 2, Naruto Shippuden OP 13) is a true genius and I can't wait to see more of his work moving forward.
