Director Sugii Gisaburo is a great director who has left behind some amazing works such as Miyazawa Kenji: Night on the Galaxy Railroad, Murasaki Shikibu: The Tale of Genji, Touch, and Goku’s Great Adventures.
The third talk event featuring Director Sugii as a guest will be held on Sunday, June 22nd, 2025. This time, the program will include a screening of the film. The theme of this talk is “animation.” The talk will be starring Sugii Gisaburo and producer Maruyama Masao. The venue is LOFT/PLUS ONE.
The film is screened by Kawabata Yasunari’s short animation film adaptation of Kawabata Yasunari’s novel of the same name. The directors are Sugii Gisaburo and Yamamoto Seiichi. This work is an extension of “Belladonna of Sorrow” (a theatrical work/released in 1973), which is highly regarded as an artistic animation. Although it was produced about seven years ago, it has only been screened in Japan a few times so far. This screening is a valuable thing. During the talk, you should be able to hear about the project for “One Arm” or the directional purpose. In addition, trailers for “The Thousand and One Nights” (a theatrical production, released in 1969) and “Belladonna of Sorrow” will be screened.
“One Arm” and two trailers were screened at the beginning of the event. After that, you will start talking with a break.
There will be streaming this event as well, but there will be no streaming of the screening of the film. The stream will be broadcast on LOFT CHANNEL in real time, and will be streamed on I am Anime Channel after being distributed on TwitCasting’s archives. In addition, TwitCasting broadcasts have a system called “donation”. Proceeds from “donations” will also be allocated to performers and the I am Anime editorial department. I am Anime Channel streaming can be viewed by channel members.

■About I am Anime talk events
Unlike the series of talk events held by the I am Anime Editorial Department, unlike the ones that were shown up by eventers, they are very simple, with stories about creators or fan talk as the main focus.
