“SAND LAND: THE SERIES” is based on the original work by Toriyama Akira, and will be broadcast on NHK General TV from June 28th! New key visual revealed

“SAND LAND: THE SERIES,” an anime series based on Toriyama Akira’s manga, is currently being distributed exclusively on Disney Plus, and has been decided to be broadcast on NHK General TV from June 28th, 2025. A new key visual has also been released to commemorate this.

“SAND LAND: THE SERIES” is an adventure fantasy based on Toriyama Akira’s classic manga “SAND LAND.” Set in Sandland, a mysterious desert world where the river, which is the source of the water, has withered, where monsters and humans coexist, the story begins when a strange trio of demon prince Belzebub, demon Thief, and human sheriff Rao set out on a journey to find the “phantom fountain” that exists somewhere in the desert.
“Mobile Suit Gundam” and “Love Live!” This anime series was produced by three companies: Sunrise, which has worked on numerous works such as “Series”, and Kamikaze Video, an animation studio that has attracted attention for its opening footage of the TV anime series “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” and “Pop Team Epic,” and ANIMA, which specializes in high-quality 3DCG animation.

It consists of two chapters and 13 episodes in total: “The Devil Prince Arc” and “The Angel Hero Arc”, and each chapter was named by the original author Toriyama. The Devil Prince Arc, which was reconstructed with unreleased cuts and new scenes to the movie “SAND LAND,” which was released in theaters in the summer of 2023, will unfold from episodes 1 to 6.
Episodes 7 to 13 depict the “Angel Hero Arc” and depicts the new adventures of Belzebub and his friends, set in Foretard, which was devised by Toriyama. The new key visual to commemorate the broadcast on NHK depicts the devil prince Belzebub, the angel Meuniel, who calls himself a hero, and his travel companions.

The anime series “SAND LAND: THE SERIES,” based on Toriyama Akira’s manga, will be broadcast on NHK General TV every Saturday from 11:45pm starting June 28th, 2025.
