A collaboration between manga artist Yazawa Ai, who is celebrating his 40th anniversary this year, and Uniqlo’s graphic T-shirt brand “UT.” It has been announced that the collaboration collection will be released in early July.
Yazawa Ai is a manga artist who has produced many hit titles, including the romance manga masterpiece “Not Angel,” “Neighborhood Story,” “The Wrong Moon,” and “Paradise Kiss,” which represent the 90s girls’ manga, and “NANA,” which caused a social phenomenon.
This collection features four Yazawa’s masterpieces: “Not an Angel,” “Neighborhood Story,” “Paradise Kiss,” and “NANA.” This collection features illustrations and motifs that symbolize each story on a T-shirt.
“Not an Angel” is designed with the inner cover illustration of Volume 6 of Cobalt Bunko on the front. The prints are expressed to give a hand-drawn texture.
“Neighborhood Story” is inspired by the fashion brands that appear in the story, and an iconic motif is designed on the front. The backing is a design cited from the paperback version of “Neighborhood Story” volume 1, p.8.
Paradise Kiss is inspired by the key fashion show in the story, and features a butterfly motif and brand logo on the chest. The butterflies are embroidered and the brand logo is printed.
“NANA” is a collage of illustrations of the members of “Black Stones,” where the main character, Osaki Nana, is the vocalist. It has a design similar to a band T-shirt.
Each product also has a signature designed by Yazawa for this collection, and this time there is a special design featuring Nana Osaki from NANA and Yazawa for UT. The T-shirt she wears under the leather jacket, which is synonymous with Nana, depicts Hachiko, another protagonist of the story.
Release dates and new information for this collection will be released around late June. In the future, special new information unique to this collection will be prepared. I’ll wait with high hopes.
