Mahoutsukai no Yome

Production company Twin Engine announced the second season of the TV anime adaptation of Cory Yamazaki's manga Mahoutsukai no Yome (The Ancient Magus' Bride) on Monday, revealing the cast, staff, a promotional image and a teaser.

The second season of Mahoutsukai no Yome will begin broadcasting on Tokyo MX and BS11 in April 2023, in the spring of 2023. Amazon Prime Video and Hikari TV will also broadcast the anime.

Mahoutsukai no Yome anime story
Despite being able to see creatures from another world, Chase Hattori has never considered herself lucky. Since her parents abandoned her at an early age, this has been the center of her suffering, leading her to sell herself into the slave market, just to secure a place she can call home.

Presented to presenters as a rare "Peggy's sleigh" - beings with an unusually high affinity for magical energies - Chase's last remaining hope appears in the form of Elias Ainsworth, a mysterious beast more than human. Instead of keeping her as a slave, he decided to make her his disciple as well as his bride.

Chase is not only physically transported to the English countryside where Elias lives, but is also introduced to a world where wondrous things like fairies and dragons are the norm. But she soon realizes that there is as much to fear in her new life as she is to her. And lying at the heart of all this is the question of whether she has fallen into the hands of something much darker than her inner demons.

Yamazaki began drawing the fantasy supernatural manga, also known as Mabuyomi, in the monthly Comic Blade in November 2013 before converting it to the monthly Comic Garden due to the discontinuation of the previous series. Mag Garden is simultaneously serializing the manga on its MAGCOMI website and publishing the seventeenth volume on March 10. Mahoutsukai no Yome has 10 million copies in circulation.

Mahoutsukai no Yome: Hoshi Matsu Hito (The Ancient Magus' Bride: Those Awaiting a Star) is a three-episode anime original video, bundled with volumes VI, VII, and VIII from 2016-2017. The 24-episode television anime premiered in the fall of 2017, and was produced into the ninth volume.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga into the English language in October 2014 and published the fifteenth volume last October. The sixteenth volume is scheduled to be released on October 25. The manga has also been published in several foreign languages, including Polish, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Finnish, and Brazilian Portuguese.

The original video anime of Nishi no Shounen to Seiran no Kishi (The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm), produced by Kafka Studio, has been compiled with a special edition of volumes 16-18. The eighteenth volume will ship with the third and final episode on September 9.
