303rd Contrapse of Love – Sentai Red Become an Adventurer in Another World

Welcome back to the I Am Anime website
It’s a belly-wrapped cat. This year marks 50 years since the broadcast of “Hide Sentai Gorenger” began in 1975. A “All Super Sentai Grand Voting” will be held on NHK, and various commemorative projects will be in motion, including the “All Super Sentai Exhibition” being held from August. The perfect anime for this year was “Sentai Red: Become an Adventurer in Another World” which aired until March. This work is not a parody of a Sentai hero story, but rather incorporates its worldview with a multiverse idea. This time I’ll introduce the music.
“Sentai Red: Become an Adventurer in Another World” is a TV anime based on a manga by Nakayoshi Torayoshi, which aired from January to March 2025. It was adapted into a film with director Kawaguchi Keiichiro and staff from animation production Satellite.
Kizuna Red from Kizuna Five, Asagaki Tougo from Kizuna Five, is defeated by the enemy leader in the final battle with the evil organization Zetzender, and is transferred to another world. In another world, the female magician, Hydra, is looking for a talented adventurer. After passing the Idra test, Tougo sets out on an adventure with Idra. Using Kizuna Five’s equipment and experience, we overcome various crises and increase our teammates. I was waiting for the day I could return to my original world one day.
What if a Sentai hero goes to another world? This is a story about a transfer of another world. The highlight is how Togo transforms into Kizuna Red and plays an active role in another world. What’s interesting is that even in another world, the promises of the Sentai Hero show we watch on TV are kept. For example, when Togo transforms, an explosion occurs behind him, and if there is someone nearby, he will be caught up in the explosion. Also, parody depictions are often seen, such as robots and special weapons flying in response to Red’s call, and otherworldly friends fighting alongside Red end up in poses before they even know. It’s strange that a resident of another world who doesn’t know what “promise” is going to peek into it every time. This work is also a kind of metafiction.
I was also working on the soundtrack for the Toei Super Sentai series from 2003 to 2014, so I watched this film with interest. I was impressed by the fact that homage to the Super Sentai series is scattered everywhere, and I was surprised to see that the voices of Kizuna Five members other than Tougo were performed by the actor who once played Sentai members in the Super Sentai series. What I came to realize as I watched it is that this work is not a parody, but a work full of love for Sentai heroes. It’s not a work that aims to be a joke.
The music also contains respect for the original Sentai hero. The music was written by Kameyama Koichiro, a composer who has worked on numerous works in the Super Sentai series, including Mirai Sentai Time Ranger and Special Sentai Dekaranger. I saw the staff credit and thought, “It’s real!”
Director Kawaguchi Keiichiro wrote the following comment on the soundtrack booklet.
“When it comes to the original special effects, I think one of the charms of this is that they play a set song at a certain point: ‘When the robot appears, it’s a robot song!’ and ‘When it’s a special move, it’s a special move!’ (omitted).
That’s why I tried my best to add classic music to the characters in “Isekai Red.” (Omitted) This time I also served as the sound director to be selfish.”
In the similar soundtrack booklet, Kameyama says:
“Please enjoy classic and crude, but impressive songs such as transformation, special moves, and ultimate weapons!”
As they said, the first highlight of this work’s music is a song that inherits the tradition of the Super Sentai series. These include the song “Knotting Change!”, which leads to action from transformation, “Come! Victory Kizuna Buster!” when summoning special weapons, and “Kizuna Five’s Daily Life”, which depicts the sound of an acoustic guitar that depicts a brief peace.
The highlight is the opening theme song of Kizuna Five, “Saa-I-I-Kizuna Five,” and the combined robot song “Maximum Kizuna Kaiser Bakugen!!.” The lyrics are written by Fujibayashi Seiko and Kuwabara Nagae, who have written many songs for the Super Sentai series. Composed and arranged by Kameyama Koichiro. Kushida Akira sings “Maximum Kizuna Kaiser Bakuen!!”. Here too, the authenticity is carried out. The music production is Nippon Columbia, which has been involved in all Super Sentai series since “Himi Sentai Gorenger.”
An interview with Kameyama Koichiro also appears in the April 2025 issue of Animage. Kameyama is said to have left everything about the music behind, and he came up with the original work and the song based on the explanations of director Kawaguchi. At the director’s request, half of them wrote orchestral-like songs, and infused guitar and bass to my liking. Furthermore, based on my experience writing music for the Sentai series, I have prepared synth-based songs that can be used sound effects.
Other works include music that depicts the themes of the main characters and other worlds, songs that activate magic and battle songs, and songs that depict everyday life. The songs from the other world are characterized by their distinctive tunes that are different from those from the Sentai, such as fantasy and folk music. However, many battle songs and everyday songs are commonly used in both Sentai Hero scenes and in other world scenes.
The soundtrack album for this work was released on March 19, 2025 on CD and distribution by Nippon Columbia under the title “The Original Soundtrack for the TV anime “Sentai Red: Become an Adventurer in Another World””.

Apparently all of the songs played in the film are included. The first song includes the opening theme song, and the ending theme song, and two more insert songs are included.
The song order is structured in line with the general flow of the story.
What’s distinctive is that the first song is the opening theme song of the program, “Cuz I,” and the second song is the theme song for Kizuna Five, “Saaikou! Kizuna Five.” The structure features “Sentai Hero” at the forefront, which will make you excited.
Track 3, “Sentai Red and…” is the subtitle song. All subtitles of this work, except for episode 12, are unified with “Sentai Red and XXXX,” so it’s a great song title.
Truck 4, “Kizuna Red, the Warrior of Heat Friendship” and Truck 5, “The Great Magician, Idra” are the themes of Red (Togo) and Idra, the main characters of this work. The theme of the red is a classic Sentai song that mainly features brass and electric guitars, while the theme of the Ydora is a fantasy and light tune that uses string pizzicato and woodwinds. The sound is contrasting because they are from different worlds.
“Togo’s Thoughts” on Truck 23 is a variation of the Red theme. The melancholy tune, with the flute and saxophone playing melody, expressing Tougo’s feelings that are not just passionate.
“The Magic of Idra” in Truck 16 is a variation of the Idra theme. This song is an up-tempo arrangement of the theme of Hydra, and is selected for scenes where Hydra uses magic to fight.
Track 7, “The Royal Staff,” uses a common motif with the subtitle song “Sentai Red and…”. “The Royal Staff” is the title of the greatest magician who serves the royal family. The Hydra family has been a royal wand for generations, but in his father’s generation he is taken away from its position. The goal of Hydra is to regain the position of the royal wand. This song is one of the important themes related to the world of this work.
The flow that continues from Truck 8 “Battle Start!” to Truck 10 “Come! Victory Kizuna Buster!” is designed with the format in mind of Sentai Hero stories. “Battle Start!” is a synth-based song that can be used in early games or skirmishes. It was often used in the battle scenes of Kizuna Five, depicted in flashbacks. “Knotting Change!” (Track 9) is one of Red’s theme variations, and is a classic song that will liven up Red’s battles. “Come! Victory Kizuna Buster!” (Track 10) is a special weapon theme in which all five Kizuna Fives fire together. The loud fanfare sounds like “Winning confirmed!”
Truck 17 “Princess Tertina” and Truck 18 “Swordsman Rouzy” are the themes of Princess Tertina, where Tougo and Idra meet in episode 3, and the hero Rouzy, who serves her. According to an interview with Kameyama Koichiro, Tertina has made a Baroque-style song to differentiate herself from Hydra, and Rosie is a gag-like character, so she said, “I played around a bit.” “Swordsman Rosie” is a song that combines flamenco and macaroni westerns.
Truck 24 “The Hero of the Holy Sword” is a variation of “Swordsman Rougy.” The bluesy rock-like arrangement expresses Rouzzy’s cool (or cool) side.
Let’s listen to everyday songs as well.
Track 12, “Daily Life with Friends,” is a medium-tempo rock song in which the saxophone and trumpet sing lightly on a splashy rhythm. Kameyama Koichiro is also a favorite type of service that is also listened to in “Special Investigation Sentai Dekaranger” and is a popular character. It’s undo. It was also used in comical scenes, taking advantage of the impressive tune.
“Fucking Friends” from Truck 22 is also good. It is a funky song featuring organs and saxophones, and is frequently selected for comical and slapstick scenes. When it comes to live-action hero stories, songs that have so many bursts of excitement are hard to use. It’s a fun song that’s unique to anime.
Track 26, “Warm Feelings,” played gently by strings, is used in scenes where Togo recalls his hometown world and scenes of friendship with his friends. The calm tune is a valuable part of the album.
Tougo and his friends visit the Sun Forest, an elf sanctuary in the desert, in search of the seeds of magical power that will bring disaster. Track 30, “Forest of the Sun” to track 33, “Shyness” are songs used in the episode of Forest of the Sun, depicted in episode 7.
“Forest of the Sun” is written in an exotic tune reminiscent of the Middle East. “Sacred Power” (track 31), “Ranya, the Heir of Amun” (track 32), and “Shyness” (track 33) are also unified in the same tune. Kameyama Koichiro offers ethnic music using simple melody and ethnic instruments in “The Zodiac Sentai Zuouger,” which aired in 2016, and it seems that this taste has been passed down through these songs.
Two of the albums stand out are track 37, “Kiyo Hiroshi Bansou Killer” and track 38, “Lord Melody.” The basic song is the same, and the “Lord Melody” played on the piano plus flute and strings are “Kiyohiro Bansou Killer.” This song was prepared for episode 8, which depicts Tougo’s past. This episode is a classic episode in special effects hero programs where “My best friend appears as an enemy…” The common motif is the piano melody played by Togo’s best friend Kiyohiro. According to Kameyama Koichiro, he tried out Ravel’s piano-like look, which he likes.
With track 39 “Final Battle!”, we finally enter the climax.
“The Final Battle!” and the next “Sense of Tension” (track 40) are songs that were often used in scenes where Togo and the others are in a pinch. “The Final Battle!” is quickly used in the final battle scene between Kizuna Five and Zetzender in the title of Episode 1 Avant. The central motif of “The Final Battle!” appears in Track 19, “The Coming Demon King’s Army,” which shows that it is a motif that expresses a powerful enemy, whether on the Sentai Hero or the other world.
Track 41 is “Maximum Kizuna Kaiser Bakuen!!” sung by Kushida Akira. Insert song here! It’s a robot song. What a well-understood structure. This is how a collection of music for special effects heroes must be (although it’s an anime).
However, it doesn’t end up being a straight set win. Track 42 “Decisive Battle” is a song used in episode 10 when Azir is swallowed by the seeds of magic, and in episode 11, Tougo transforms into Kizuna Black. The melody evokes tragic feelings and tragic developments, making you wonder, “What will happen next?”
The ending is definitely a happy ending. Track 43, “The Winner I Grabbed” is a song that reminds me of a grand finale. The snare drum is joined by strings, brass, woodwinds, and more to create a majestic melody. It was used in episode 5 when Maximum Kizuna Kaiser transports a huge monster to space, and in episode 11, Raniya saves Azir, who was swallowed by the seeds of magic. Although it was not used in the final episode, it would be a perfect song to close out the album.
This work is a parody of Sentai Hero + another world story, but the music is extremely orthodox. The songs on the Sentai Hero side are the original, and the music from another world is compiled in line with the world view, focusing on fantasy and ethnic songs. The songs that color the two worlds each emit their own individuality and give off a sense of unity.
The technique of overlapping paired melody (opposite melody) with the main melody is called counterpoint. In this work, the music of Sentai Heroes and music from another world overlap with the main melody and the opposite melody, making it a single music. Which one is the main melody is probably the Sentai Hero. The charm of Sentai Heroes is highlighted by exchanging music from another world fantasy music with the music of Sentai Heroes with strong individuality. When you transform, it explodes, you call yourself a pose, or shout the name of your special move, which may be strange to the eyes of otherworldly people, but it’s cool. I feel the love of Sentai heroes as he tries to draw the coolness straight ahead and draw it. The music in this work is a counterpoint between two worlds played by love for Sentai heroes.
